The Center for Strategic and International Studies
In 2023, I put my career on hold and moved back to Syracuse in pursuit of a Masters in Public Diplomacy and Global Communications from Syracuse University. One of the big selling points of that graduate program was a practicum internship requirement that sends students to Washington, DC for their third and final semester. To fulfill that requirement, I was lucky enough to secure a multimedia production internship with the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS)! Here is a selection of some of the best video work I completed during my internship.
I led production on this project for the CSIS Global Food and Water Security Program to coincide with the third year of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. I collaborated with program officials on scripting and visuals, exploring the effects of war on Ukraines agriculture sector and the fallout for regions that the country would export to. Testify with Matt Pearl: Ensuring U.S. Leadership in Wireless Technology; This was a wonderful experience all around! I covered the testimony of CSIS Strategic Technology Program Director Matt Pearl, where he spoke to the United States Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation about the impact that delaying Spectrum Auctions could have on the United States. I took still photography of Matts testimony, gaining valuable experience as a journalist and photographer. We then shot Matts Testify video elsewhere in the building. Testify with Greg Poling: China’s Grey Zone Predations in Southeast Asia & the Pacific Islands; This was an interesting one to work on. I attended the testimony of Greg Poling at the Dirksen Senate Office Building with the intention of recording a short for CSIS's social media pages. The testimony itself was very interesting, but an issue with the microphone made the audio from Gregs stand-up almost un-usable. This was the day that we learned just how much Adobe's Podcast Voice Enhancer can save the day from insane audio issues. (Released by CSIS on March 21, 2025)
Australian ONI Director-General Andrew Shearer on China's Maritime Activity | Pacific Policy Pulse; I assisted with the filming of this video and took the lead on its final edit. (Released by CSIS on March 14, 2025)
